Research Studies on Children and Adolescents

National Longitudinal Surveys of Youth
The NLSY include multiple cohorts of youth to study the transition from school to work and into adulthood, as well as other social, behavioral, and emotional aspects of early years of development.

The National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health
A nationally representative sample of youth who were in grades 7 through 12 as of 1994. Adolescents, their parents, siblings, friends, romantic partners, and school administrators participate in interviews.

The Michigan Study of Adolescent and Adult Life Transitions (MSALT)
The MSALT researches the impact of transitions on adolescent development in the areas of academic and role related behaviors, choices, and outcomes, by collecting information from surveys, record data, phone interviews, and intensive face to face interviews.

Early Childhood Longitudinal Study
The ECLS focuses largely on children's status at birth and at various points in childhood; children's transitions to nonparental care, early education programs, and school; and children's experiences and growth through the fifth grade.

Center for the Analysis of Pathways from Childhood to Adulthood (CAPCA)
CAPCA brings together researchers who use 20 multi-disciplinary national and international longitudinal projects to study the complexity of influences on children as they develop through adolescence into adulthood.

MacArthur Network on Successful Pathways through Childhood
A multi-disciplinary network of researchers who address such questions as "What influences and experiences contribute to the different outcomes for children during their first school years? And how can the likelihood of successful outcomes be increased?"

Family and Child Well-being Research Network
A multi-disciplinary network of researchers pursuing individual and collaborative projects related to the well-being of children.

The Network on Transitions to Adulthood
