Errors were detected in the 1985-1992 Childbirth and Adoption History file, release 2, from which V32009-V32032 in the 1968-1992 Individual file, release 2 were derived. A detailed description of the changes in the 1985-1992 Childbirth and Adoption History file was provided when it was re-released. After a revised version of the 1985-1992 Childbirth and Adoption History file was created, a revised version the 1968-1992 Individual file with corrected values for V32009-V32032 was created.
The following corrections have been made to the 1968-1992 Individual data file:
These changes affect the 1968-1992 Individual file on the CD-ROM issued in
December 1995 and the version on the Internet issued in December 1995.
Analysts of the 1968-1992 Individual file who have used affected variables in
their analysis, particularly V32015, should download a new version of the
1968-1992 Individual file from the PSID Website and
incorporate this file into their analysis routines.
The two tables below document the overall changes in variable V32105 (Marital status of mother at time of individual's birth). The frequencies from release 3 and the prior release, release 2 are provided. The frequencies in the codebook documentation for these variables have not be updated.
